The archives
- Evangelism (7 talks). Throughout the summer we're going to be looking at the different aspects that make up evangelism in the Bible.
- Harby 2008 (4 talks). Harby 2008 talks, taken by Jonty Rhodes from St Aucks in Duffield. The series looks at Christ and culture. How do we understand the gospel and share it clearly with a culture that understands less and less of the Christian story every day?
- Ask Anything? (12 talks). We've started a new series called 'Ask Anything'. We asked the church to bring questions about the Bible or the Christian life that they either found difficult or thought we should just explore further. The talks were then voted on and these questions came out on top.
- Haggai (2 talks). Haggai is a rather obscure book in the Old Testament. If you can find it, you earn Christian bonus points! It's a small book with lots to say. God stirring up his people again after the exile.
- The Gospel of John (18 talks). John's gospel is a lot to get through but we're keen not to miss the wood for the trees. We want to see the big picture, where John is going and what he's trying to get across about Jesus. We had some technical problems with the talks on John chapter 1 and 2 and 19 but the rest are all here.
- Work (2 talks). It's odd that we don't hear more talks about work since that's what we spend 1/3 of our lives doing for over 40 years of our lives. If God is a part of our whole lives, then surely he's a part of our working lives too. This mini-series explores how God views work (Theology of work) and how we're to view work (Work and Witness).
- Hard words in the Bible (5 talks). This series looks at hard or misunderstood words in the Bible. The aim isn't to drown in theology but to show that there are some awesome truthes about God's character behind these words and if we do a little work who knows what we'll find!
- The Emotionally Healthy Church (5 talks). This series is all about healthy lives and healthy relationships. The series titles are based on two books: 'The Emotionally Healthy Church ' and 'Emotionally Healthy Spirituality ' by Peter Scazzero. The aim of the books is to show that in the Bible God is interested in all of us not just a part. Rather than dividing our lives into the spiritual and the material, we need to see that God made all of us, including our emotional responses. A mature Christian isn't just someone with gifts but a godly character who has let the gospel change them at the core of who they are.
- Singleness and Marriage (2 talks). As all of us are either single or married in life, we thought it would be good to look at both singleness and marriage. In this mini-series, we look at what it means to be in both states and the benefits and pitfalls of both.
- Christian Character (2 talks). God is bothered about all of us, not just a part. The Bible calls this the fruit of the Spirit. To be more like Jesus we're not just to exercise our gifts but be nicer, more thoughtful, less angry etc. But this is fruit (singular). Anyone can have one or two of the fruit, but godliness is growing in all of them at the same time.
- Special Events (2 talks). These are talks that were given at special events recently at Trinity. They're mostly evangelistic talks.
