Ask Anything: Salvation

Posted: May 06, 2008 by Matt

This week we continued in our Ask Anything series by looking at the question: How were people saved before Jesus? The question looked at whether God saved people in a different way in the Old Testament to the New Testamant. The answer is of course a resounding no. If we believe in a God who never changes then neither do his promises.

Book Recommendations

Here are some book recommendations. If you follow the link to amazon, you can use their ‘Look Inside’ facility to read selected excerpts from the books.

  • God’s big picture – Vaughan Roberts (IVP) – Probably the best small book looking at how the whole Bible is about Jesus.
  • The Goldsworthy Trilogy – Graheme Goldsworthy (IVP). The first book in this trilogy is called: Gospel and Kingdom. It’s a great introduction to how the Old Testament fits together and what it means. It’s bundled with two of his other books but it’s essential reading.
  • According to plan – Graheme Goldsworthy (IVP). A more indepth version of Gospel and Kingdom. Well worth reading if you want to understand the Old Testament in a little more depth.
