Pastors Newsletter - May 2010

Posted: May 30, 2010 by Murray Golder

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I hope it’s not just me but this year seems to be flying past, another month, and just as we hit June we are seeing things change all around us. It is always an awesome tribute to our sovereign and almighty God to watch the new life of Spring jump into action complete with the beautiful blossoms of the apple and the cherry trees and the bluebells forming a hazy blue pathway through the woods.

In the same way I believe we are beginning to see the shoots of new life springing in the hearts of Gods people here at Trinity. When we sense that a new vision is being born, it is like a springtime of our hearts. It reminds me of the Narnia books where it was always Winter but never spring, the signs of change were the arrival of Christmas and new life springing forth…

Here we stand brothers and sisters at the beginning of something new, an opportunity for renewed purpose, a chance to embrace God in a new way, seek His face (Ps. 27:8) and allow Him to remake us, renew us for His good purposes (Phil. 2:13). God wants to give us a makeover, not external, but internal, spiritual open heart surgery. God says ‘I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.’(Ezek. 36:26) This is a painful, but spiritually revitalising process, I was reminded in Kyrgyzstan by my team leaders that this is just the process that God has been doing in my life over the past few years, and she was very excited to see just how far I had come and the change that was evident! Friends, God is at work, His Holy Spirit is at work in our hearts and will bring much needed change, but only if we will let him. All of us need to hear and respond to this message of change, each to differing degrees, praise God for His patience, grace and mercy to us day after day in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am overwhelmed by the level of response of the vision evening, the inspiring vision that God is giving to the church; the scriptures , pictures, words, visions and commitment I am seeing from within the church family. We give God all the glory for what He is bringing to His church through His humble servants, you and me. Please continue to pray as we begin to press forward into establishing a vision for the church and strategies that will help us to achieve that vision within the coming years!

Thank you all for your participation in, action of and devotion to this process of change. If you have any thoughts, doubts or worries about this then please speak to me or one of the other Elders about it. If you feel that you need prayer support, then I would be only too glad to help in whatever way I can.

Yours in the love of our Lord Jesus Christ,

With much love,

Murray
