Pastors Newsletter - April 2010
Posted: Apr 28, 2010 by Murray Golder
Dear All,
I hope you are all feeling like I am, that God is beginning to do things at Trinity, we’ve been here only two months so far but have already been blessed by you and are finding new depths to old relationships and also beginning new ones as well. As we embrace springtime here it is a time for us to consider the coming year and the prospects it holds for each of us, but especially for us as a fellowship together and how we will work out God’s mandate and His passion in our own lives.
I’m sorry to say that a few things were missed during the ‘global displacement’ last week, between clouds of ash and revolutions there have been a lot of things going on in our lives. Thankfully this is giving us more time to wait on God and hear what He is saying to us about what His vision is for our gifts and skills as a church and how best to reach out and to where, etc… I feel that God used extreme circumstances to force us to wait, so that we weren’t rushing into the forming a vision in haste, but instead has given us another month to pray and wait and fast and seek the heart of God for Trinity. I already am feeling movement in certain directions and I am preparing to explore these opportunities, but I want to know where the rest of the fellowship are and so want to hear from everyone as to how and where we should be moving forward in this.
We are also continuing our series’ on ‘the Presence of God’, and I feel that God has some exciting things to say, and for me it has been a real challenge to seek to know God more and find out His character and then to look at our identity in Christ, then continue to explore how God has revealed His presence to us in many ways in the scriptures and to many people. This is all to help us to know God better, to engage with Him in a deeper and closer way, or to reveal to us some weaknesses in our lives or changes that need to be made if we are going to discover God in new ways, open up to God, commit our ways to God and let Him direct our paths.
I haven’t been able to ask anyone yet if there has been any prayer or fasting on Thursdays in connection with the vision of the church, it is something that I personally am committed to and even when we were in Kyrgyzstan was something that we continued and found opportunities for prayer as well, I hope some of you managed this as well?! Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing how God continues to speak into the life and future of our fellowship, aren’t you?!
We had a great trip to Kyrgyzstan and were thankful for the unexpected additional time at the end when we were able to meet up with additional old friends and say goodbye! We had some progress with closing our humanitarian company, though it couldn’t be shut since the tax office was burnt down!! I’m sure there will be a way round this, please pray it will be speedily completed. We were also blessed to be able to agree a sale for our house, although yet again, were unable to complete the deal since the revolution began and there was a halt put on house buying and selling till June!! Again we need patience to wait till the right time! Our car was also moved forward, although, again we were unable to sell it as our friend’s Dad wouldn’t let it leave his driveway until he was paid some money!! This was easily cleared up when our friend arrived again but too late for a sale! Please pray for all these things that there might be some speedy completion so that we can be relieved of the pressure of things still hanging over us and have funds released to us here which would also be helpful!
As we get back into the swing of things, please be prepared to meet with me as I try to keep track of activities, events, the themes you are developing in your ministry or small group and seek to bring cohesion and commonality to all that we are doing together.
May God richly bless each one of you, your loved ones and families throughout this coming month.
Lots of love,
Murray
