Pastors Newsletter - Easter 2010

Posted: Mar 30, 2010 by Murray Golder

Dear All,
I can’t believe it’s already a month since we started on this new adventure together!
I am writing this to you on Monday following the induction weekend because I wanted to say a great big thank you to each one of you for the part you played in making it such a successful day on the Saturday and also for the way you looked after our many guests. I believe we were round about 100 people on Saturday many of which were visitors, some who had never been to our church before and I need to commend you as I hear so many positive responses from those visitors about how welcomed and cared for they felt to be with us.

Thanks especially to those who helped to run the meeting, to the catering team and to anyone involved in setting up. Thank you all, it was a great effort required but the outcome was remarkable, so a sincere thank you.

The most promising thing about this is that it sets a precedent for future events and if we can organise an event of this scale in such a short time, then there is certainly more scope for what we can achieve given further opportunities.

Thank you all for your kindness and patience as we continue to settle in to life here in Derby again, and even though we are going to Central Asia again for another 10 days we trust that you will be praying for us as a family as we take this final opportunity to sell our house, our car, our business needs to be shut down. We need to say good bye to our friends, our ‘family’ out there our team mates and for the children to say good bye to ‘Kanny’ Xanishai, the German shepherd, and ‘Akky’, AkKat (God’s message) the beautiful white long hair cat that adopted us.
This will be an emotional trip, but it also needs to bring closure, we can only go back now because we feel settled here with you in our new role, our new life, so we are very thankful for that as well.

Also as we celebrate the Lord’s death and resurrection this is an amazing time of the year with endless opportunities for us to share our faith with friends, family and random strangers. When is it easier to correct misconceptions about our faith than at Easter with all the bunnies and eggs, we don’t want Easter on the Cheep, we want to embrace it as it really is, the cross and the death of Jesus, but more than that, His victory and His overcoming of death that leads us to new life. I pray that God will give you opportunities, but more than that, that you would be empowered to take them and to make a difference to those around you, to show what it is that differentiates you from them and to help them want and find what you have!

God bless you all,
Lots of love,

*Murray*
